Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a non-invasive, hands-on therapy that aims to enhance the body’s own healing capabilities. According to the Upledger Institute, CST uses a touch of under 5 grams to “release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.” This light touch is said to affect the pressrue and circulation of cerebrospinal fluid, which is the fluid around the brain and spinal cord. This process is thought to relieve pain and dysfunction.
Why is Craniosacral Therapy so important?
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a light-tough approach that can create dramatic improvements in your life. It releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunctioin, and improve whole-body health and performance. CST releases tensions to allow the entire body to relax and self correct.
The Body is a Self-correcting Mechanism
There is an innate ability of the human body to heal itself. Some practitionsers refer to this as the Inner Physician. When the skin is lacerated, this self-correcting mechanism responds with an elaborate process to close the skin. Immune responses and inflammatory responses are also indicative of the body’s self healing abilities. CranioSacral Therapy involves facilitating or enhancing the body’s own natural capacity to heal when trauma or disease processes become overwhelming for the system.
What can I expect from a session?
A CST session can last up to an hour or more. It can be used alone or integrated with massage to facilitate powerful changes.
“Our son was diagnosed with torticollis at 2 months of age. We are happy to report that he is responding quite well the treatment. Not only is his head straighter, but he is much happier, clamer baby than he was just five short weeks ago. We learned that is his colic was related to the torticollis. Since getting CranioSacral Therapy, his symptoms have almost completely gone away.”
